We headed for the Hotel de les Invalides around 3:30 or 4. Everyone was starved. But food was so expensive near the museum (inside the museum a 12 oz bottle of water was $4.50) we diecided to eat on our way to the next site. We never found the right place and Fiona became fixated on crepes which we promised. But we trudged on and eventually made it through the military museum complax to Napoleon's Tomb. I really wanted to see it -- not sure why. He seems like such a significant figure in histroy that I wanted to check it out. It seemed to fit his personality to a tee -- larger than life in every way.
I tried to impart a little Napoleon hist to the girls, but not sure much sunk in. I hope it makes them more interested in european histroy as they study it in high schoool.
Amid tears for crepes from Fiona we headed toward our next stop Champs du Mars and the Eiffel Tower. I promise dto look for a place for crepes along the way.
