Nora's blog 6/26/11

Today we had breakfast again at moms Danish parents house. We ate
hearty bread rolls with blackberry or rasberry jam served with either
coffee or tea. They also gave us a teapot bag. You put a teapot in
this air filled bag and it keeps the tea warm. After taking pictures
in their beautiful garden and saying our goodbyes, we got in the car
and drove to the airport. We checked our luggage and got our boarding
passes and then talked to the sixt employee to figure out what they
would do about the car's smashed window. Security check went by very
fast thanks to their extremely quick and efficient system. We found
our gate and then got some sanwhiches, pizza, and toblerone since we
won't be eating until we land in Berlin.

Upon landing, we took a few buses to our hotel in west Berlin. The
room Is spacious with high ceilings and our own bathroom. The only
negative aspect of it is that we have to walk up three flights of
stairs, which may not seem like a lot, but after walking around trying
to find the hotel and carrying two heavy bags each, we were all
panting heavily at the top.

For the rest of the day, we took the bus around Berlin taking pictures
at famous sites and getting a feel for the city. We went to the
holicaust memorial, which consists of about 3000 large stone
rectangular prisms, some taller than others, and in most areas much
taller than myself. The shape of the stones is supposed to resemble
that of a grave. We also spent sone time at the museum underground.
After we were too exhausted to continue any further, we went to a
traditional German restaurant called dicke wartens right by our hotel.
The food was so good, but very rich.
