Door County Weekend - July 23-25

We arrived in dramatic fashion, via bike, prompting Jack to ask, "How did you get here?". The family separated at Kirshners -- Maggie went to take Lucy to Mary's by the Dairy store and Bridget, Fiona and myself biked to the house. It was an easy ride and certainly a fun way to arrive.

We had a nice dinner on Friday night brats and a salad. Topped off with a gallon (literally) of M&M's for dessert.

On Saturday we got up early -- Fiona and I went for Chocolate Donuts and milk. I was going to go on a long bike ride with Suzanne, but it was raining too hard. Bridget and I went running instead. Maggie and Fiona went bike riding. We both went to the State Park and were passing each other at times. At one point when passing Fiona I shouted "It's the tortoise and the hare!" later on Fiona whipped by us on her bike and yelled out "Who's the tortoise now". We're going to have to explain that story to her at some point.

It continued to rain on and off all day. We swam for a bit here and there. The water was really calm and it was pretty cool to see the rain hitting the water. Especially when it came down hard. The girls went to the hitch with Jack for lunch. We stayed back and had hot dogs... Tom charred his to an extreme. Good dogs though.

The girls wanted to go mini-golfing, but I talked them into going to a real golf course (twilight rate was only $15 with a cart). Jack and Tom played as a twosome. the girls and I were 4. It was great to be out there with the girls playing golf (1st time ever), but it took us 30 min per hole because they weren't hitting very far and they were enjoying the carts more than the golf. All the girls drove the carts at times. Fiona and Nora agreed that was the best part. Each of the girls had some good shots. I hope we can do that again sometime.

Dinner was awesome beef tenderloin grilled to perfection (Rub by Suzanne, Grilling by me). Quinlans came over --talked til late. Girls watched the Bounty hunter - thumbs way down, but Jack liked it.

Sunday - up early for donuts and NYT. Long bike ride to Lily Bay -- 1.5 hours. Beautiful scenery and houses, not traffic. B and I broke away from Fiona and Maggs. Fiona was upset. Sorry.

Gorgeous day! 90 deg and sunny. Jet ski went in, but engine flooded after a few runs. B was going way way out swimming. Scaring us... had to go out and get her back. Played a little soccer on the beach. Relaxed. Brats for lunch. Left at about 5PM. Stopped for Culvers on the way home. Great weekend!!!
