Nora blog entry - Monday

Today, we rode bikes across the golden gate bridge--a tiresome but rewarding endeavor. This morning we woke up and ate breakfast (bagels and yogurt...yum!). Bridget, Fiona and I then went to the bike rental shop to see about the prices. We dressed warmly because it was supposed to be cold and rainy today. After Bridget took about a half an hour in the shower, we went to the shop to get our bikes at around 11:30. We biked for a while along the shore, which gave a foggy but still beautiful view of the golden gate bridge. Pretty soon the rain came and the wind started blowing. As we rode, rain drenched every inch of us, especially our faces because we were riding into the wind. The bridge was amazing. Though it was cold and rainy, it was pretty cool to see San Francisco and Alcatraz from a different perspective. When we arrived in sausalito, we locked our bikes and then ate lunch at a cafe. After taking a few pictures and bundling up some more, we headed back. The ride back was more strenuous, especially for Fiona, since there were a lot of uphills. Several times Bridget, dad, and I had to stop and wait for my mom and Fiona to catch up. On the bridge it was even worse because the wind was blowing against us so we had to pedal harder. The sky had cleared up some and the temperature had risen a bit so we took more pictures. Since we decided to keep the bikes for 24 hours, we locked our bikes in the hotel garage and came back up to the room to shower and siesta. For dinner, we are going to the in and out burger which is like a traditional fast food restaurant in san francisco and is apparently quite good. I am even going to break my vegetarianism and eat a burger tonight...just this once.

  1. Nora,
When we went to San Francisco, we walked the Golden Gate Bridge. We didn't rent bikes. I hope you had fun!

  2. We did not ride bikes across the bridge but we did walk across it. It was actually a pretty warm day so we had a great view. I hope you have a great rest of the trip.
